In this episode of TAU Unbound our host, Ambassador Ido Aharoni Aronoff, is hosting Dr. Bruria Adini, head of the Department of Emergency Management and Disaster Medicine in the School of Public Health, in the Faculty of Medicine at Tel Aviv University. Prof. Adini Spent 17 years in the Israel Defense Forces and then in the Ministry of Health and acquired invaluable knowledge in the management of extreme crisis situations. She obtained her PhD in the management of health systems. Her main message is holistic: to promote effective management of emergencies and disasters, the public must be viewed as a partner. Bruria is involved in the planning and implementation of processes aimed at ensuring effective response to different hazards that pose a risk, including earthquakes, floods, wars, pandemic and of course climate-related risks. In this episode of TAU Unbound our host, Ambassador Ido Aharoni Aronoff, is hosting two young academics representing the Africa Project and Engineers Without Borders: a group of 22 volunteers, all from TAU, who diligently work to improve lives of villagers in Africa. Ra'anana-born Yaeli Benovich and Tel-Aviv born Offir Inbar, fell in love with Tanzania, were they work on the implementing of water-collection systems on roof tops and the engagement in training programs to develop local water management skills.

In our 17th Episode, host Ido Aharoni Aronoff, engages in a discussion about the importance of inclusion and diversity in the performance of complex organizations such as academic institutions. In the studio we host two leaders of Tel Aviv University: One, Prof. Milette Shamir, Vice President of Tel Aviv University, in charge of international academic collaboration whose academic expertise is in English and American Studies, focusing on U.S. literature and culture in the nineteenth century. Prof. Neta Ziv, is the Vice President for Equity, Diversity and Community at Tel Aviv University and the academic director of The Carasso Social Housing Research and Development Program (Hagar). She is a longtime member of the Faculty of Law and an expert in human rights law.

Our guest Prof. Daphna Joel conceived the ‘mosaic’ hypothesis – the claim that sex differences in the brain do not add-up consistently in individuals. In a discussion with out host, Ido Aharoni Aronoff, she contends that most brains are composed of both features more common in females and features more common in males. Prof. Joel received her Ph.D. in psychology in Tel-Aviv University in 1998, and joined the faculty of TAU, after receiving the Alon fellowship for young Israeli scientists. She is presently a member of the School of Psychological Sciences and the Sagol School of Neuroscience. Her work on questions related to brain, sex and gender won international acclaim.
